Timberline Creek is a residential community consisting of 10 to 20+ acre parcels located on 1800 acres in the foothills between Bozeman and Livingston.
This website was created to serve as a central gathering place for historical information about the area, services provided by residents, work projects, community gatherings, services needed by residents, etc. Any information you may have to augment the site you can send to Karen Cox, the webmaster, using the Contact form.
Introduction to the Timberline Creek Community
The Timberline Creek Tracts was established in 1992 with a limited set of covenants, incorporating over 100 lots straddling the border of Park and Gallatin Counties east of Bozeman, Montana. Prior to its current residential use it was grazed by cattle and, further back, was a vital source of coal used to power steam engines for the Northern Pacific Railroad. In the early 1890’s the Timberline mines produced about 5000 tons of coal/month, the valley had its own school, and a community of more than 300 miners and their families lived here, including, for a time, Calamity Jane.
TCRMA
There is no Home Owners’ Association in Timberline Creek. The only organized body is the Timberline Creek Road Maintenance Association (TCRMA), with seven elected members serving two year terms. Property owners pay a yearly fee which funds road maintenance, repair, and snow plowing. The road board is also responsible for weed control within the road easement. Notices are generally sent out to make people aware if/when any weed spraying is scheduled. The Montana Weed Control Association has a very good website to help property owners with weed identification and how to control them. This community website is not affiliated with the road board, but under the TCRMA heading has provided the board a means to share information with the community.
Website Menus
There is an Ads section for use in posting local goods and services, and a Businesses section is available for introducing your skills to the community. Resident photos can be uploaded, and there is a section with helpful links to share.
Nextdoor
This Timberline Creek Community website will not serve as a forum, but a Timberline Creek network has been set up by Aaron Hieber at www.nextdoor.com.
Mailboxes
Timberline Creek mail is delivered to the mailbox string located next to Montana Grizzly Encounter. There is an orange Knaack box that is the default for parcels being delivered to the neighborhood. Several years ago a silver parcel container was set up to help reduce theft and also accommodate an increase in the volume of deliveries, particularly during holidays. If you wish to use this container a one-time fee is requested to help offset the cost. Contact information is posted on the door of the container, or you can use the Contact form on this site to request more information.
